I haven't had a car since 2010, but I'd go bonkers without my phone. It isn't that I make call after call. I have no idea how people can be on their phones talking incessantly. But, my phone lets me send and receive texts (again, not incessantly) and lets me get online when I'm not around my computer (or when our internet was shut off for a couple of months, my phone was my lifeline!) I also take pictures with it and keep in touch with my son who lives in Utah. So, definitely, the car is much less an issue. Besides, I can get rides from a friend when I need to go somewhere.
